| Job Description | An electrician installs, maintains, and repairs electrical systems in buildings and structures. They perform a variety of tasks, including: Installation: Install electrical wiring, control, and lighting systems, as well as conduits and pipes to house electrical wires and cables Maintenance: Perform general electrical maintenance, and troubleshoot malfunctions Repair: Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures using handtools and power tools Inspection: Inspect electrical components, such as transformers and circuit breakers, to determine whether repairs are needed Testing: Use testing devices to identify electrical problems Compliance: Follow state and local building regulations based on the National Electrical Code Training: Direct and train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring or equipment | ||
